| Our Favorite Reads This is a list of our favorite reference materials that you may also find beneficial. We’re also including ways to obtain them, although we do not endorse or prefer one company over another. Each book listed can be purchased on-line by clicking on the book's image, however most can be purchased through your favorite book retailer. They are listed in no particular order. How To Hunt Ghosts: A Practical Guide By Joshua P. Warren © 2003 Joshua P. Warren, published by Fireside. Amazon.com: $10.01 This is one of our favorites! The author describes in plain English techniques and methods for a successful investigation as well as popular and not-so popular theories. It contains an outstanding glossary of terms and definitions and is an excellent reference for both the beginner and the experienced investigator! This one is definitely a must-have!!! How To Be A Ghost Hunter By Richard Southall © 2003 Richard Southall, published by Llewellen Publications. Amazon.com: $9.97 This book is also an excellent reference, although slightly more technical. This book has excellent definitions of phenomena as well as easy to follow steps for a successful investigation. Ghost Hunting 101: A Guide For The Beginner By Doris “Dusty” Smith © 2005 by Doris Smith, published by DBPRG, Inc. Ebay: Approx $5.00 This is a short and sweet paperback, with the proceeds going to a cemetery restoration charity. The author gives the reader the basics for conducting an investigation without detailing ghost stories and haunted histories. A good beginner book. The Complete Idiot’s Guide To Ghosts And Hauntings By Tom Ogden © 1999 by Tom Ogden, published by Alpha Books. Amazon.com: Used $3.24 The best thing about this book is the forward by Zelda Rubenstein: the actress who played the Psychic in the “Poltergeist” trilogy. To make it simple – if you need this book, you probably shouldn’t be entering this field of research. On the other hand, if you feel that some of the other reference materials are too "technical" you might want to give this one a try. The Ghost Hunters Guidebook By Troy Taylor © Whitechapel Productions; 1 edition (August 25, 1999). Amazon.com: $10.36 Another CCPI favorite! Mr Taylor's book clearly explains terms and definitions for a successful investigation. He provides the basics for beginners as well as more thorough information for the professional. An excellent addition to the professional investigator's library! This is also the required material for Mr. Taylor's home study course, and is the perfect "text book" for any beginner! How To Photograph the Paranormal By Leonre Sweet © Hampton Roads Publishing Company (December 2004) Amazon.com:$13.22 If taking pictures of orbs is all you're looking for, this is the perfect book for you. For the serious paranormal investigator, this book is rather limited. It touches on "vortexes" and "ecto-plasm" even crop circles and UFO's, however the primary focus is on orbs. On a positive note: the color photos are excellent and for that reason alone, we recommend this book! The Encyclopedia of Ghosts and Spirits by Rosemary Guiley © Checkmark Books; 2nd edition (October 2000) Amazon.com:$14.16 This book is an excellent reference book for the serious ghost hunter / paranormal investigator. Provides good case histories as well as "ghost stories" that can be used as examples on investigations. |
